Brief Description
Toxic Zombies (1980), also widely known by its original title Bloodeaters, is a low-budget American independent horror film written, directed, produced, and edited by Charles McCrann, who also stars in the lead role under the pseudonym Charles Austin. The film gained notorious historical significance in the United Kingdom when it was successfully prosecuted as a "video nasty" and banned during the moral panic of the 1980s.
Plot:
The story centers on a group of hippie marijuana growers operating an illegal plantation hidden deep in the backwoods. After they kill two FBI agents who stumble upon their operation, a corrupt government official orders the area to be crop-dusted with an experimental, untested herbicide called Dromax. Instead of destroying the crops, the toxic chemical poisons the growers and transforms them into mindless, flesh-eating, zombie-like mutants. The newly spawned horde begins a blood-soaked rampage through the forest, attacking everyone they encounter. A local FBI field agent on a fishing trip with his wife must team up with other uninfected survivors to escape the woods alive.
