Brief Description  The Fog is a 1980 American supernatural horror film directed and scored by John Carpenter, who co-wrote the screenplay with producer Debra Hill. A classic follow-up to Carpenter's massive success with Halloween, the movie is celebrated as an atmospheric, traditional ghost story.

Plot:
The film takes place over a 24-hour period in Antonio Bay, a small coastal town in Northern California, as it prepares to celebrate its centennial anniversary. As midnight strikes, bizarre phenomena begin to occur across the town: inanimate objects move on their own, power outages strike, and a mysterious, iridescent, glowing fog begins to roll in from the ocean. Unbeknownst to the general public, the town's prosperity is built on a dark secret. Exactly 100 years prior, the town's founders deliberately shipwrecked a clipper vessel named the Elizabeth Dane, which carried a wealthy leper colony. The founders plundered the ship's gold to build Antonio Bay, leaving the crew to drown. Now, the vengeful ghosts of those murdered mariners have returned within the glowing fog to claim six victims—symbolic substitutes for the original conspirators.

The movie utilizes an ensemble cast trapped in different areas of the isolated town as the entities attack. Stevie Wayne (Adrienne Barbeau): A late-night radio DJ broadcasting from a lonely lighthouse who uses her vantage point to warn the townspeople where the fog is moving. Elizabeth Solley (Jamie Lee Curtis): A resourceful hitchhiker who finds herself caught in the chaos alongside local resident Nick Castle (Tom Atkins). Father Malone (Hal Holbrook): The local priest who discovers his grandfather’s diary, uncovering the horrifying truth behind the town's founding. Kathy Williams (Janet Leigh): The head of the town's centennial committee, coordinating the celebrations while unaware of the danger.
