Brief Description
The Boogey Man (also spelled The Boogeyman) is a 1980 American supernatural slasher film written and directed by German filmmaker Ulli Lommel. Combining elements of classic slasher cinema with supernatural possession, the film became a major independent box office success, grossing an estimated $25–35 million on a minuscule $300,000 budget.
Plot:
The movie opens with a traumatic childhood event where a young boy named Willy stabs and kills his mother's abusive boyfriend while his sister, Lacey, watches the reflection in a nearby mirror. Twenty years later, Lacey is married with a child, while Willy has been rendered completely mute from the psychological trauma. When Lacey receives a letter from her estranged mother, she returns to her childhood home to confront her past. Inside the old house, she encounters the spirit of the deceased boyfriend trapped inside the bedroom mirror. In a panic, Lacey smashes the mirror to destroy the apparition. However, breaking the glass releases the malevolent, vengeful entity into the physical world. As the shards of the broken mirror are scattered and repositioned, anyone who catches a reflection in the cursed glass becomes the target of a bizarre and grisly murder.
