Brief Description  The Children (also known as The Children of Ravensback) is a 1980 American independent horror film directed by Max Kalmanowicz. Combining elements of "killer kid" tropes, science fiction, and zombie cinema, the movie is a low-budget cult classic frequently associated with early 1980s drive-in horror. The movie received generally negative reviews from mainstream critics upon its release.

Plot:
In the quiet New England town of Ravensback, a school bus carrying a group of young children drives through a mysterious, glowing toxic cloud leaked from a nearby nuclear power plant. The children disappear from the vehicle, only to emerge shortly after as mindless, radioactive zombies. While they maintain their normal appearance, they now possess blackened fingernails and a terrifying superpower: their bodies emit extreme thermal energy. Driven by a sinister instinct, they wander back into town to find their parents and neighbors, extending their arms for a hug that instantly microwaves, melts, and incinerates any living thing they touch. As the town becomes a hunting ground, Sheriff Billy Hart and a handful of local residents must race against time to figure out what happened and find a way to stop the deadly pint-sized terrors.
