Brief Description  The Amityville Horror (1979) is an iconic American supernatural horror film directed by Stuart Rosenberg and starring James Brolin, Margot Kidder, and Rod Steiger. Based on the best-selling 1977 book by Jay Anson, the movie chronicles the alleged real-life paranormal experiences of the Lutz family. The village of Amityville banned production from filming at the actual location. Filmmakers instead used a modified home in Toms River, New Jersey for the exterior shots.

Plot:
The story follows newlyweds George and Kathy Lutz (along with Kathy's three children) as they move into a spacious, dirt-cheap colonial house at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York. They buy the waterfront home despite knowing its dark history: just one year prior, Ronald DeFeo Jr. committed a horrific mass murder of his family inside the house. Shortly after settling in, their dream home turns into a hellish nightmare as the family is terrorized by escalating supernatural forces. The household experiences terrifying phenomena, including swarms of flies appearing out of nowhere, disembodied voices commanding them to "get out," walls oozing slime and blood, and glowing red eyes staring through the windows.

The malevolent presence begins to distort the family's personalities. George becomes increasingly sullen, cold, and obsessed with splitting firewood and sharpening his axe. Meanwhile, the youngest daughter, Amy, forms an unsettling bond with an invisible companion named Jodie. Desperate for help, they call upon a local priest, Father Delaney. However, when he attempts to bless the property, he encounters violent spiritual resistance and is driven away by a commanding voice and sudden sickness. As the evil forces isolate the family from outside help, George and Kathy are pushed to the brink of madness and must fight to escape the house with their lives.
