Brief Description
It Lives Again (also known as It's Alive II) is a 1978 American science fiction horror film written, produced, and directed by Larry Cohen. Serving as the direct sequel to the 1974 cult classic It's Alive, the movie blends low-budget exploitation horror with social commentary surrounding themes of evolution, reproductive rights, and parental responsibility.
Plot:
The narrative expands on the original film's premise, revealing that the birth of vicious, man-eating mutant infants has escalated into a nationwide epidemic. The story follows Eugene and Jody Scott (Frederic Forrest and Kathleen Lloyd), a Tucson couple preparing for the birth of their child. During their baby shower, they are approached by Frank Davis (John P. Ryan)—the grieving father who was forced to hunt down his own mutant child in the first film. Frank warns the Scotts that a secret government task force, led by a ruthless official named Mallory (John Marley), is tracking pregnancies and plans to execute their baby immediately upon birth. Instead of killing the children, Frank has allied with a rogue team of scientists and doctors who believe these creatures represent the next stage of human evolution. He helps the Scotts escape the authorities just as Jody goes into labor. The baby is successfully delivered in a mobile medical unit and taken to a secluded mansion laboratory. There, it is placed in captivity alongside two other mutant infants. Inevitably, the highly dangerous, clawed children break free, resulting in a deadly, violent rampage.
