Brief Description  Tentacles (Italian title: Tentacoli) is a 1977 Italian-American science-fiction horror film directed by Ovidio G. Assonitis about a California seaside resort town terrorized by a mutated giant octopus. Intended to cash in on the massive success of Steven Spielberg's Jaws, the movie follows a reporter and a marine biologist as they scramble to stop the sea monster before it kills more tourists.

Plot:
The story takes place in the coastal paradise of Solana Beach, California, where a string of bizarre disappearances begins to plague the oceanfront community. Victims—ranging from an infant to swimmers and boaters—are dragged beneath the water, with their bodies later recovered stripped of all flesh and bone marrow. Local journalist Ned Turner (John Huston) suspects that a powerful corporation headed by Mr. Whitehead (Henry Fonda) is connected to the incidents. The company has been building an underwater tunnel beneath the bay using drilling equipment that violates safety and environmental regulations. Turner teams up with oceanographer Will Gleason (Bo Hopkins). They discover that the underwater construction noise mimic the sounds of the creature's natural prey, which has enraged a massive, mutated octopus and driven it to attack humans. The danger escalates when a major children's sailing regatta gets underway, placing Turner’s nephew directly in the monster's path. Gleason is forced to launch a desperate underwater retaliatory strike using trained killer whales to stop the cephalopod.
