Brief Description  One Million Years B.C. (1966) is a British adventure fantasy film produced by Hammer Film Productions and directed by Don Chaffey. A colorful remake of Hal Roach's 1940 film, it is set in an ahistorical, fictional prehistoric era where cavemen and dinosaurs coexist. The movie famously propelled actress Raquel Welch into global stardom, cementing her as a cultural icon.

Plot:
The story begins with the brutal and aggressive Rock tribe. A young caveman named Tumak (John Richardson) quarrels with his tyrannical father, the tribal leader Akhoba, over a ration of meat. Tumak is beaten and banished from the tribe's harsh desert territory. After wandering through a treacherous landscape filled with prehistoric dangers, Tumak collapses on a beach. He is discovered and nursed back to health by Loana (Raquel Welch), a woman from the blonde, gentler, and more advanced Shell tribe. Unlike the Rock tribe, the Shell people live harmoniously and practice cave painting, fishing, and rudimentary compassion. Tumak struggles to adapt to their peaceful lifestyle. After trying to steal a spear, he gets into a fight and is expelled from the Shell tribe as well. Deeply in love with him, Loana decides to leave her tribe to follow him back out into the wilderness. On their journey, they evade cannibalistic ape-men and survive a terrifying battle between a Triceratops and a Ceratosaurus.

Upon returning to the Rock tribe, Loana struggles to fit in, facing a brutal fight with a jealous cave woman named Nupondi (Martine Beswick). Loana breaks tribal customs by sparing Nupondi's life, and later teaches the Rock tribe how to swim. Loana is suddenly snatched away by a Pterosaur, but escapes into the sea where her own tribe rescues her. Tumak tracks her down just as a power-hungry Rock tribe member, Sakana, launches a violent coup. As a massive volcano erupts and a catastrophic earthquake tears the land apart, Tumak kills Sakana. The survivors from both the Rock and Shell tribes band together, putting aside their differences to start a new, unified life in the ruined landscape. The film is celebrated for its groundbreaking stop-motion creature effects designed by visual effects master Ray Harryhausen. He animated iconic creature encounters, including a giant iguana, a Triceratops, a Ceratosaurus, and an Allosaurus.
