Brief Description
Monsters Crash the Pajama Party (1965) is a 31-minute horror-comedy short and "spook show" featurette directed by David L. Hewitt. It follows college initiates spending the night in a spooky mansion run by a mad doctor and a gorilla, built for live theatrical midnight ghost shows where costumed actors would run through the audience.
Plot:
Initiation Week: College sorority pledges plan to spend the night in an old, supposedly abandoned mansion. The mansion is actually the secret headquarters of a mad doctor and his hunchbacked assistant, Igor. The mad scientist and his gorilla assistant try to transform humans into monsters in the basement. The girls' boyfriends arrive wearing monster masks to pull a prank, but they end up fighting off real monsters and a laser gun to save the captured pledges. At the end of the film, the monsters use a laser to blast through the screen and grab a volunteer from the live theater audience.
