Brief Description
Die, Monster, Die! (1965) is a gothic science-fiction horror film directed by Daniel Haller. Starring Boris Karloff and Nick Adams, it is a loose adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s short story "The Colour Out of Space", following an American visitor who uncovers mutated horrors and cosmic radiation inside a decaying English estate.
Plot:
American scientist Stephen Reinhart arrives in the bleak English village of Arkham to visit his fiancée, Susan Witley. Locals shun the Witley family, and Susan’s wheelchair-bound father, Nahum (Karloff), demands Stephen leave immediately. Stephen discovers a blasted, barren heath outside and a glowing greenhouse housing mutated, giant vegetation. Nahum has been experimenting with a radioactive meteorite that emits destructive rays, driving people mad and disfiguring his wife, Letitia. As the radiation permeates the ancestral manor, Letitia falls completely under its horrific spell. Driven to madness by the alien force, Nahum attempts to destroy the glowing meteorite himself. His desperate effort triggers a massive, catastrophic fire that engulfs the entire cursed estate, allowing Stephen and Susan to escape the doomed grounds.
