Brief Description
Blood Thirst (also known as Blood Seekers or The Horror from Beyond) is a 1971 Filipino-American black-and-white horror-mystery film directed and produced by Newt Arnold (who later directed Bloodsport) and written by N.I.P. Dennis. Although shot on location in the Philippines in 1965, the low-budget exploitation film faced a delayed release and did not premiere in the United States until 1971, where it played on the grindhouse circuit.
Plot:
The story follows an American sex-crimes specialist and detective named Adam Rourke (Robert Winston) who travels to Manila to assist his friend, local homicide investigator Inspector Miguel Ramos (Vic Diaz). They are tasked with solving a string of grotesque murders where young, attractive women are found drained of their blood, each bearing identical, surgically neat 10-centimeter cuts on both forearms. The killings are tied to a shady Manila nightclub and orchestrated by a monstrous, misshapen creature.
The monster acts on behalf of Serena (Yvonne Nielson), a glamorous blonde belly dancer who is actually an ancient, centuries-old sorceress. Serena uses an occult recipe combining the victims' fresh blood, powdered roots of ancient trees, and solar energy harvested in a small container to maintain her eternal youth and beauty. After various noir-style investigations, romantic entanglements, and attacks, the heroes track the culprit down to the club's cellar, where Serena's ritual backfires during a confrontation, causing her to rapidly age and disintegrate into dust.
