Brief Description  The Crawling Hand (1963) is a low-budget sci-fi horror film directed by Herbert L. Strock. It follows an astronaut's disembodied, alien-possessed arm that falls from orbit to a California beach, where it terrorizes a young college student and commits a string of bizarre strangulation murders.

Plot:
Astronaut Mel Lockheart's space capsule runs out of oxygen during a moon mission and goes haywire. Ground control program official Steve Curan and scientist Dr. Max Weitzberg are forced to detonate the craft in orbit after Lockheart begs them to destroy it. Lockheart’s severed arm—still clad in a spacesuit sleeve and mutated by an alien interaction with cosmic rays—falls back down to Earth and washes ashore on a beach. College student and medical student Paul Lawrence finds the arm on the beach and brings it home to his landlady's house. The disembodied hand comes to life, crawls around, and strangles Paul's landlady, Mrs. Hotchkiss. The malignant alien force soon begins to possess Paul's mind as well, turning him into a hollow-eyed, killer-instinct ghoul. Scientists realize the alien organism cannot survive temperatures above 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The hand is eventually cornered in a junkyard and chewed up by stray cats, ending the terror—though a final hint suggests the threat might still linger.
