Brief Description  They Came from Beyond Space is a 1967 British science fiction film directed by acclaimed cinematographer Freddie Francis and produced by Amicus Productions. Based on Joseph Millard's 1941 sci-fi novel The Gods Hate Kansas, the movie combines elements of alien mind control, body-snatching, and 1960s B-movie camp.

Plot:
The film opens in rural Cornwall, England, where a local farming couple witnesses nine glowing meteorites falling from the sky in a perfect "V" formation. The British Ministry of Space Research immediately takes notice. Dr. Curtis Temple is the lead scientist tasked with investigating the event. However, due to a recent car accident, his doctor forbids him from doing strenuous field work. Instead, his girlfriend and fellow scientist, Lee Mason, takes his place to lead the field investigation team. When the scientists arrive at the crash site, one of the team members strikes a meteorite with a chisel. The rock emits a blinding flash and a piercing high-pitched noise, instantly paralyzing everyone nearby. The meteorites actually house incorporeal alien entities made of pure energy. These entities possess the scientists' bodies, taking total control of their physical and vocal functions. The possessed Lee Mason and her team quickly cordon off the farm. They brainwash the local authorities, take over a local bank to finance their operation, and begin massive, top-secret construction underground.

Anyone who wanders too close to the compound is struck down by a mysterious, fatal bleeding plague. Suspicious of the sudden secrecy and unable to contact Lee, Dr. Temple tries to enter the compound. While the aliens easily possess everyone else around him, they find themselves entirely unable to take over Dr. Temple's mind. He learns that a silver/metal plate inserted into his skull after his car accident acts as a shield, completely blocking the aliens' telepathic frequencies. Realizing he is humanity's only hope, Temple enlists the help of his scientist friend, Farge. To protect Farge from the alien mind control, they melt down Farge's silver cricket trophies to fashion a makeshift, colander-style protective helmet. Armed with their protective headgear, Temple and Farge infiltrate the heavily guarded military compound. Temple manages to capture Lee and uses ultraviolet light to successfully purge the alien entity from her body. The trio discovers that the possessed humans have constructed a massive underground launchpad and an operational space rocket.

Sneaking aboard the spacecraft, they blast off to the dark side of the Moon, where the aliens have established their primary base of operations. Upon arriving at the lunar base, they are brought before The Master of the Moon. Expecting a hostile, world-ending threat, Temple prepares for a final battle. Instead, the Master reveals a surprising truth: the aliens (originally from the planet Zarn) are not malevolent conquerors. Their spaceship was severely damaged and crashed on the Moon long ago. Dying and desperate, they only took over the minds of Earth's scientists because they needed their physical labor and collective engineering intelligence to repair their ship so they could go home. Understanding that the invasion was merely a desperate cry for survival, Dr. Temple agrees to help them. Humanity willingly assists the aliens in finishing their spaceship repairs. The energy beings vacate their human hosts, return to their ship, and peacefully depart into deep space, leaving Earth safe and sound.
