Brief Description  Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959) is an independently produced American black-and-white science fiction horror film written, directed, produced, and edited by Edward D. Wood Jr.. Infamous for its technical errors, incoherent dialogue, and micro-budget production values, the film was posthumously labeled the "worst movie ever made" by critics Michael and Harry Medved in 1980. This notoriety transformed the film into a beloved cult classic and a definitive staple of "so-bad-it's-good" cinema.

Plot:
The film opens with a dramatic monologue by the celebrity psychic Criswell, who warns the audience of future events. The story proper begins at a California cemetery where a weeping Old Man (Bela Lugosi) buries his young wife (Maila "Vampira" Nurmi). Overcome by grief, the Old Man steps in front of a car and dies shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, commercial airline pilot Jeff Trent (Gregory Walcott) and his co-pilot spot a flying saucer flying overhead. The U.S. military forces them to keep the sighting a secret to prevent public panic. Back on Earth, extraterrestrials led by Eros and Tanna have failed eight consecutive times to establish diplomatic contact with humanity. The aliens fear that humans are on the verge of inventing "Solaronite," a catastrophic doomsday weapon capable of detonating sunlight molecules and destroying the entire universe.

To force the human race to listen to their warnings, the aliens initiate "Plan 9". Using long-distance electrode guns, they reanimate the pituitary and pineal glands of recently deceased humans. The reanimated ghouls include the Old Man's wife, the Old Man himself, and Inspector Dan Clay (Tor Johnson), a local police officer killed while investigating the cemetery. The zombies terrorize the local community, specifically targeting Jeff Trent's wife, Paula (Mona McKinnon). Eventually, the military, led by Colonel Tom Edwards, tracks the alien signal to a landed saucer. Jeff Trent and the police storm the spacecraft, sparking a confrontation with Eros. Eros delivers a passionate, angry speech about humanity's reckless nature before a fistfight erupts, damaging the ship's control equipment. The humans escape just before the spaceship catches fire and explodes in the sky, destroying the aliens and instantly reducing the reanimated ghouls to skeletons.
