Brief Description  Earth vs. the Spider (originally titled The Spider) is a 1958 black-and-white sci-fi horror "creature feature" directed by Bert I. Gordon. Set in a rural American community, the plot follows a giant tarantula that emerges from a local cave system to terrorize a small town, after being accidentally revived from an assumed death by local teenagers.

Plot:
The film kicks off on a deserted highway near the small town of River Falls, where Jack Flynn is driving home. He has just bought a birthday bracelet for his teenage daughter, Carol. Suddenly, an unseen object crashes into his truck, and he vanishes. The next morning, Carol Flynn (June Kenney) and her boyfriend Mike Simpson (Eugene Persson) head out to search for him. They locate his abandoned, crashed truck near a massive, local cave network. Exploring deep inside the cavern, they discover the birthday gift and his skeletal remains—alongside a gargantuan, web-spinning tarantula. The teenagers narrowly escape and warn the town's skeptical Sheriff Cagle. They enlist the help of their high school science teacher, Mr. Art Kingman (Ed Kemmer). Kingman and the sheriff track the beast to its cave and spray it with a massive dose of the pesticide DDT, seemingly killing it.

Believing the threat is over, the giant carcass is hauled back to town and placed in the high school gymnasium for scientific observation. However, during an after-school rehearsal, a student teenage rock 'n' roll garage band begins playing loud music. The intense sonic vibrations revive the dormant spider. It breaks free from the gym, kills the school janitor, and goes on a destructive rampage through the town. The monster eventually retreats back to its cave. Unaware that Carol and Mike have returned to the cavern to look for her lost birthday bracelet, the sheriff orders the cave entrance sealed with explosives. Mr. Kingman rushes to the scene to stop the blast, manually rigs an improvised electrical line to electrocute the spider, and rescues the teenagers just before the creature plunges to its death on stalagmites.
