Brief Description  Not of This Earth is a seminal 1957 independent American black-and-white science fiction horror film produced and directed by B-movie icon Roger Corman. Written by Charles B. Griffith and Mark Hanna, the film runs for 67 minutes and is widely regarded as a lean, highly efficient classic of 1950s low-budget cinema. It famously introduced a unique sci-fi twist on the traditional vampire mythos by substituting supernatural curses for extraterrestrial survival.

Plot:
The narrative centers on an alien humanoid agent who travels from the distant planet Davanna to Earth via a high-tech matter transporter. Davanna has been ravaged by a devastating nuclear war, causing the entire population to develop a fatal blood disorder that causes their blood cells to rapidly degrade and evaporate. Adopting the alias Paul Johnson, the alien embeds himself in a Southern California suburb to surreptitiously test human blood and secure a massive supply for his dying race. To conceal his identity, Johnson wears a sharp suit, a hat, and dark sunglasses at all times. Beneath the glasses lie solid, milky-white orbs. When he removes his sunglasses, he can project a hypnotic, lethal "death-ray vision" that allows him to instantly kill victims or telepathically enslave minds.

Johnson forces a local physician, Dr. Rochelle, to administer daily blood transfusions to keep him alive on Earth. Using his mind control, Johnson places a telepathic block on Rochelle to prevent him from alerting anyone to his alien physiology. Needing round-the-clock care, Johnson rents a mansion and hires a live-in nurse named Nadine Story. While keeping up a rigidly formal demeanor, Johnson sneaks out at night to murder citizens, draining their blood into specialized vials hidden in a silver briefcase. He also coordinates with Davanna via a telepathic communication device, revealing a ruthless multi-phase plan that culminates in the complete conquest, pasturing, or utter annihilation of humanity.

Nadine and her police officer boyfriend, Sherry Mattison, grow highly suspicious of Johnson's bizarre habits (such as his inability to sleep and his reaction to loud noises). When a bizarre, umbrella-like flying alien parasite sent from Davanna attacks a victim, the authorities piece the clues together. In a desperate final chase, Sherry pursues Johnson. Johnson is ultimately defeated when Sherry activates his police siren; the extreme sonic frequency shatters the alien's hypersensitive hearing, causing him to lose control of his car and plunge to his death. The film ends on an ominous note at Johnson's gravesite. As Sherry and Nadine leave, another mysterious man in a sharp suit and dark sunglasses approaches the cemetery, implying that a second alien agent has arrived to continue the harvesting mission.
