Brief Description  Released on August 1, 1953, Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a 76-minute Universal Pictures horror-comedy. The film stars Bud Abbott as Slim and Lou Costello as Tubby, two bumbling American police officers in Edwardian London to study local tactics, who cross paths with horror icon Boris Karloff playing Dr. Henry Jekyll and his brutal alter ego, Mr. Hyde.

Plot:
Slim (Bud Abbott) and Tubby (Lou Costello) play two bumbling American police officers visiting Edwardian London to study local British law enforcement methods. While on duty, they inadvertently cause a chaotic riot at a local suffragette rally and get kicked off the police force. To win back their jobs, they set out to capture a mysterious, monstrous serial killer terrorizing London. Unbeknownst to them, the killer is Edward Hyde, the monstrous alter ego of the respected Dr. Henry Jekyll (Boris Karloff). Unlike the original Robert Louis Stevenson novella, Dr. Jekyll is entirely evil in this version; he is fully aware of Hyde’s actions and uses the serum intentionally to murder colleagues who mock his work.

In one of the film's classic comedic set pieces, Tubby chases the monster into a wax museum. He gets terrified by wax figures of Dracula and the Frankenstein monster before crossing paths with the real Hyde. During a struggle in Jekyll's lab, Tubby accidentally gets injected with the monster serum. He transforms into a chubby, sideburn-wearing "Costello-Hyde" monster, leading to a confusing chase through London where both Hydes are running loose. After a chaotic chase across London's rooftops, the real Hyde falls to his death and reverts to Dr. Jekyll. Tubby is brought to headquarters, but he accidentally bites Slim and several other officers, transforming them all into monsters in a final gag.
