Brief Description  AI Mode Conversation: Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955) detailed descriptionAbbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955) detailed descriptionAbbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955) is a classic horror-comedy that serves as the 28th and final film the iconic comedy duo made for Universal Pictures, officially wrapping up the studio's original Mummy franchise. Directed by Charles Lamont, the movie blends slapstick vaudeville routines with ancient Egyptian curses, offering a nostalgic farewell to the golden age of Universal monster mashups.

Plot:
The story follows two stranded, near-broke Americans in Cairo, Pete Patterson (Bud Abbott) and Freddie Franklin (Lou Costello), who are desperate to find a way back home. While sitting at a local café, they overhear the renowned Egyptologist Professor Zoomer talking about discovering the mummified corpse of Klaris—the ancient guardian of Princess Ara's treasure-filled tomb. Hoping to secure a job as escorts to accompany the mummy back to the United States, Pete and Freddie head to the professor’s home. When they arrive, they discover that Zoomer has been murdered by a secret cult known as the Followers of Klaris, and the mummy has vanished. In the chaos, they inadvertently take possession of a sacred medallion that contains the hidden map to Princess Ara's tomb.

The boys soon find themselves targeted by two competing factions: The Cult, led by the High Priest Semu, who wishes to protect the sacred tomb and keep Klaris alive. A greedy crew led by the elegant but dangerous femme fatale Madame Rontru, who wants the medallion to steal the treasure. Realizing the artifact is cursed, Pete tries to hide the medallion in a hamburger. Freddie accidentally eats it, meaning the villains must keep Freddie alive—or find a way to extract it—to read the map. In the film’s chaotic finale at the tomb, both Pete and one of Madame Rontru’s henchmen disguise themselves as mummies to rescue Freddie. This leads to a confusing, hilarious labyrinth chase where three different mummies (including the real, resurrected Klaris) are running around simultaneously.
