Brief Description  Village of the Damned is a 1960 British science-fiction horror film directed by Wolf Rilla and based on John Wyndham's novel The Midwich Cuckoos. It stars George Sanders as Professor Gordon Zellaby and follows a quiet English village where a mysterious blackout causes a mass sleep, resulting in all local women of childbearing age becoming simultaneously pregnant with emotionless, telepathic, platinum-blond children.

Plot:
The story begins in the sleepy, fictional English village of Midwich. At precisely 11:00 AM, a sudden, inexplicable force puts every living creature within a perfect geographic radius into a deep, comatose sleep. Anyone attempting to enter the zone—including a military officer—collapses instantly. Several hours later, the blackout lifts just as abruptly as it began. The inhabitants wake up entirely unharmed. Weeks after the event, the townspeople discover that every woman of childbearing age in the village has simultaneously become pregnant. This includes unmarried women and those whose husbands were away during the blackout. The children are born on the exact same day. They all share striking, unnatural physical traits: Platinum-blond hair, piercing, intense eyes, oddly narrow fingernails, and accelerated growth rate. As the children grow, local scientist Professor Gordon Zellaby (played by George Sanders) raises one of the boys, David, as his own son. It quickly becomes apparent that the children possess advanced telepathic powers, a shared hive-mind consciousness, and a complete lack of human empathy.

They can read thoughts and physically control human actions. When threatened, their eyes glow, forcing adults to harm or kill themselves. For instance, a man who accidentally clips a child with his car is telepathically forced to drive straight into a wall at full speed. The government realizes that Midwich is not alone; similar clusters of children were born globally after identical blackouts, though other countries have already destroyed theirs out of fear. The Midwich children demand to be safely distributed into society to proliferate. Realizing they are an unstoppable existential threat to humanity, Professor Zellaby agrees to teach them but secretly plots to destroy them. To bypass their mind-reading abilities, Zellaby utilizes a psychological defense mechanism—focusing entirely on the mental image of a brick wall to hide his true intentions. He enters their classroom with a ticking time bomb hidden in his briefcase. In a gripping mental "tug-of-war," the children sense his anxiety and begin chipping away at his mental wall, but they fail to break it down before the bomb detonates, killing Zellaby and destroying the children.
