Brief Description  Horrors of Spider Island (originally released in West Germany as Ein Toter hing im Netz, or "A Corpse Hung in the Web") is a 1960 cult exploitation horror film written and directed by Fritz Böttger. Famous for its bizarre mix of low-budget monster tropes, melodrama, and skimpy attire, the movie has earned a permanent place in the pantheon of "so bad, it's good" cinema.

Plot:
The story begins with Gary (Alexander D'Arcy), a suave talent agent who has assembled a troupe of seven beautiful, glamorous chorus girls for a high-paying club gig in Singapore. While flying over the Pacific, their private plane suffers a catastrophic engine failure and crash-lands into the ocean. Gary and the girls manage to survive and make their way ashore to a remote, seemingly deserted tropical island. As the group searches for water and shelter, they discover a small, abandoned cabin in the jungle. Inside, they make a gruesome discovery: the dead body of a professor hanging in a massive, thick spider web. They soon learn that the island contains rich natural uranium deposits. The resulting radiation has mutated the local arachnid population into giant, hyper-aggressive, venomous creatures.

While exploring near the cabin, Gary is bitten by one of the mutated spiders. Instead of dying from the venom, he undergoes a monstrous transformation. He mutters incoherently, grows giant fangs, and turns into a shaggy, wild spider-monster-werewolf hybrid. Overcome by a feral urge to kill, Gary flees into the jungle, leaving the stranded women to fend for themselves. The middle portion of the film bogs down into melodrama. Left alone on the beach, the chorus girls split their time between fighting over clothes, sunbathing, and getting into intense catfights. Eventually, a supply boat belonging to a mining company arrives on the island. The crew, Joe and Bobby, are looking for the dead professor but are instead thrilled to find a beach full of beautiful women.

Bobby immediately begins flirting with the girls. However, during a walk through the woods, Bobby crosses paths with the mutated Gary, who strangles him to death. Realizing they are being actively hunted by a monster, Joe and the remaining women band together. They discover that both the giant island spiders and the transformed Gary share a crippling fear of fire. Arming themselves with torches and a box of industrial flares from the mining ship, they corner Gary in the jungle. Gary is driven into a swamp or consumed by fire (depending on the cut), neutralizing the threat. The survivors board the mining boat and safely escape back to civilization. The film is widely remembered today because it was featured in Season 10 of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
