Brief Description  Circus of Horrors (1960) is a landmark British horror cult classic directed by Sidney Hayers. Plot:
The story is set in 1947. Dr. Rossiter (Anton Diffring) is a brilliant but narcissistic plastic surgeon who flees England after a botched, experimental operation leaves a high-society patient horribly disfigured. He and his loyal assistants, siblings Angela (Jane Hylton) and Martin (Kenneth Griffith), cross the channel to France. Living under the alias "Dr. Schüler," he encounters a rundown traveling circus owned by Vanet (Donald Pleasence). After Schüler operates on Vanet’s bomb-scarred daughter, Nicole (Yvonne Monlaur), he manipulates his way into partial ownership of the circus. When Vanet is conveniently killed in a freak bear attack, Schüler takes total control.

Over the next decade, Schüler utilizes the circus as a front. He recruits disfigured women, often criminals on the run, and reconstructs their faces into flawless beauties. In exchange, he binds them to the circus as his elite performers. Schüler rules with total psychological control. If any of his beautiful starlets try to leave him or threaten to expose his past, they meet sudden, gruesome demises disguised as performance mishaps—such as a fatal plunge from a trapeze or a knife-throwing act gone wrong.

The circus returns to England for a high-profile show, drawing the attention of Scotland Yard and a persistent reporter. Schüler's house of cards collapses when a scarred former patient spots his distinctive ring in the crowd. After a series of chaotic events—including an attack by a gorilla that leaves Schüler’s own face badly scarred and a botched lion-taming act—the unhinged doctor attempts to flee. He meets his end outside the big top when he is run over by an oncoming car.
