Brief Description  Released by Columbia Pictures on August 17, 1944, Cry of the Werewolf is a 63-minute B-horror and mystery film directed by Henry Levin in his feature directorial debut. The film stars Nina Foch as Princess Celeste LaTour, a gypsy queen bound by a deadly lycanthropic family curse. A Romani princess descended from Marie LaTour has the ability to change into a wolf at will, just like her late mother.

Plot:
The Secret Entombment: Princess Celeste's mother—a former gypsy queen and a literal werewolf—dies, and her body is secretly entombed in a museum basement to hide the dark family heritage.

The First Murder: When a museum curator/doctor gets too close to discovering the truth about the mother's condition and the supernatural background of the gypsy lineage, Celeste transforms and kills him to protect the secret.

Investigation and Mind Control: Police Lieutenant Barry Lane investigates the murder alongside Robert "Bob" Morris (the victim's son) and Elsa Chauvet. Trying to derail the inquiry, Celeste uses psychological dominance or gypsy mind-control techniques on Bob and Elsa.

Climax and Resolution: As the police uncover physical evidence and fingerprints in the hidden basement, Celeste shifts into her wolf form to attack the intruders. She is ultimately shot and killed by police officers, ending the curse.
