Brief Description  The Lost World (1925) is a landmark American silent fantasy adventure film directed by Harry O. Hoyt and produced by First National Pictures. Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s 1912 sci-fi novel, the movie is a monumental milestone in cinematic history, serving as the foundational blueprint for future monster films like King Kong, Godzilla, and Jurassic Park. In 1998, it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

Plot:
The Challenge: Hot-tempered Professor George Edward Challenger (Wallace Beery) claims that living prehistoric dinosaurs exist deep within the Amazon rainforest. Faced with intense ridicule from the London scientific community, he organizes an expedition to prove his findings.

The Expedition: The team includes skeptical scientist Professor Summerlee (Arthur Hoyt), courageous hunter Sir John Roxton (Lewis Stone), newspaper reporter Edward Malone (Lloyd Hughes), and Paula White (Bessie Love), who joins to find her missing explorer father.

The Plateau: The group successfully navigates the Amazon and scales a remote, isolated volcanic plateau. Once at the top, their bridge back to safety is destroyed, trapping them in a prehistoric ecosystem filled with roaming dinosaurs and hostile apemen.

Escape & Capture: As volcanic activity begins to tear the plateau apart, the team scrambles to escape. Amid the chaos, a massive Brontosaurus tumbles off the cliff into the muddy riverbank below. The team captures the trapped creature and constructs a raft to transport it back to England.

London Climax: Back in London, the Brontosaurus breaks free from its steel cage, sparking mass panic. It rampages through the city streets and damages the London Bridge before plunging into the Thames River to swim out to sea.
